So what interesting quizzes and gameshows are on telly next week?!!
Pointless Celebrities has a FA Cup special (BBC1, Sat 3rd Jan - 6.05pm) so I wonder who will reach the third round and maybe get to the final. As long as it isn't Robbie Savage then I am happy, he did play six games for Brighton and Hove Albion back in the day. My betting is on a round where they draw balls out of a hat.
Well, Shane Richie proves his flexibility combining both acting, singing and game show host roles in the almost-new National Lottery show, Win Your Wish List. My first impressions of the show was that I was needing a bucket for the #PDAs on offer (that's public displays of affection for those not hip and trendy to know young-speak) but avoid that and it's not that bad a show. The key is speaking clearly so expect some teams with regional accents to appear soon to have you reaching for the subtitles button soon.
Earlier on Saturday, ITV fill their schedule with reruns of Ejector Seat (11.25am) and the wonderful (although would have been more wonderful had I appeared on it) The 21st Question with the lovely Gethin Jones at 12.25pm. Tipping Point fills the mid afternoon slot followed by the family friendly Big Star's Little Star hosted by Stephen Mulhern who is just finishing up his panto role in Crawley this year. I believe Beil Ruddock is one of the Big Stars on the show - hopefully he will have more clothes on then he had on in his recent appearances on A League Of Their Own. Take Me Out returns but I really don't consider it to be worthy of a mention.
Sunday 4th January sees nothing much of interest apart from the spectacular Fun House on Challenge. I so wanted to ride those go-karts!!
As most of the country goes back to work on Monday 5th January, the quiz schedules return to normal so expect to see your daily dose of Countdown, Deal Or No Deal, Tipping Point, The Chase, Pointless, Eggheads but of course, don't miss your weekly fix of University Challenge and Only Connect on BBC2 and the always moving show in the BBC1 schedule, A Question of Sport.
If you are lucky enough to have Sky on Demand/Showcase thing on your tellybox then available now is The Fanatics. Another Sky attempt to get a hit game show maybe (but a real shame Cleverdicks didn't make it as I liked the show). Maybe it's an attempt to be a longer version of Mastermind but who knows as the first show includes Doctor Who, Boxing and The London Underground. The first show is to be aired on Sky1 on Wednesday 7th January 8pm.
Finally a new show from the other side of the pond starts on History Channel (Sky 529), Friday 9th January at 9pm with a double bill. It is called Pawnography and features the staff of Pawn Stars in a game show format which I haven't watched or know about so no idea on how good it will be.
And as ever if that doesn't fill your thirst for knowledge there is Defectors on Challenge at 5am next Saturday 10th January to get your teeth into.
Have a great weekend!!
As soon as one series ends - another is in the pipeline.
Hopefully, I can get a team together to apply but if you fancy having a go at the toughest TV quiz show in the UK (unless its on S4C or BBC Alba with no subtitles) then fill yer boots and apply here
Hope to see you on the show (very optimistic!!).
Time for another round of Wheel of Fortune Meets Only Connect - it's like 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown without Jimmy Carr's annoying laugh.
As always these are Wheel of Fortune puzzles but with Only Connect vowels removed.
What are the following puzzles?
What Are You Doing
Before And After
Fun & Games
Proper Names (very American)

Answers are displayed below when you highlight the text underneath this line
Safe And Sound
Pulling Double Duty (??)
Live In Nanny Goat
Enchanting Ports Of Call
The Hatfields and McCoys (TV Mini-Series of 2012 with Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton apparently)
Working The Room
If you said YES to both (and if you said No to any of these, what's wrong with you) then wait no longer - I'm going to put on here Wheel Of Fortune questions in the style of the missing vowels round.
Can you guess them? I will post the answers in the comments box so no scrolling down now.
